Animatronic Skull
The challenge here was to create an animatronic skull consisting of mechanical parts that would rotate a pair of eye balls, blink the eye lids, open and close the jaw and tilt the head on three axis.
Post Processing
The parts were manufactured in FDM ABS and sections have been sanded, primed and painted to give the skull a realistic copper finish, showcasing how 3D printing can provide both structural functionality and a professional aesthetic.
High Detail
Note the impressive attention to detail in the eyeball manufacture which were also 3D Printed and then hand painted.
Functionality
The high-density ABS components demonstrated remarkable durability, enabling the seamless attachment and proper operation of high-torque servos for extended periods, ensuring reliable functionality over the long term.
